I reckon I like it…

Overall this appears to be fantastic product… while it works. It does not take too much space. It comes with a small cook-book. It seems to cook food evenly and does not burn. Keypad allows you easily set-up time up to 24 hours. Once cooking time expires the slow-cooker automatically turns on the “warm” mode. Honestly simple to clean, provided that you do not spill too much food onto the metal outer shell. I was pretty pleased with it while it was working. Unfortunately it sort-of died after about a third try. In a middle of operation the slow-cooker suddenly started to beep and show went blank. I tried pressing the control buttons, turning the machine off and on, letting it stand for a while and then turning it on… nothing worked. So I returned the machine to Macy’s and got a new one. I have not tried it yet. I’m hoping that this was just my luck and the second slow cooker will last longer than a week. If not then I’ll have to change this review…

My wife was so excited to throw away her grandmother’s crockpot and upgrade to this model, but now she can’t cook dinner while at work because it burns all our food–even on the lowest setting. I would not recommend it.

Cuisinart is that brand that comes to mind when you reckon of serious cooking, and their 3 ½ – Quart Programmable Slow Cooker certainly comes to mind in that regard. Like any decent slow cooker it comes with a removable ceramic insert for simple transport and cleanup, as well as for even cooking and heating. Cuisinart also claims the insert is non-stick and dishwasher safe. So far it certainly does provide for simple cleanup but I’ve yet to dare to wash it in the dishwasher. The one feature that may be a bit tough and either a plus or a minus is s the LCD show. One attribute is that you can program it for up to 24 hours and the timer does automatically switch to heating once the cooking is over. The programming allows for four settings; high, low, simmer, and warm, and the timer can be set in increments of 30 minutes. For some the programmable timer is a huge plus, for others a concern should it malfunction or the show stops working correctly.

As far as actual use the cooker does a fantastic job with the insert offering reliable heating and cooking. The overall capacity is perfect for nearly any and every sized need. More importantly Cuisinart is a brand that you certainly can trust and rely on.

  • Fantastic slow cooker!!

I like cooking and this slow cooker is a huge plus! I was looking for a small-size slow cooker between 3qt and 4qt with a timer. As far as I know, Cuisinart is the only brand that clears my requirements. The stainless steel end makes it modern and clean looking.

This slow cooker is very simple to use. Just plug in, turn on, set the cooking time (+- by 30 min)and choose the heat setting. I made beef goulash and the meat was cooked so tender. The 3.5qt oval size pot is perfect for 2-4 people. You can easily cook large meat or a small part of food. My only concern is that the surface gets very hot while cooking. You don’t want to place anything flammable around it.

Overall, I like this slow cooker!!

I bought this for my husband. He likes cooking with a slow cooker. Not something I’m used to doing so I don’t really use it nor reckon about it. My husband likes it.

I absolutely like this slow cooker! If this was available a few years ago I could have saved tons of money trying to find a slow cooker that didn’t overcook everything! I’ve not had it very long but have made 3 dishes already and each turned out perfect, not boiled beyond recognition. I have bought at least 3 Rival slow cookers and either took them back or sold them at my garage sale. Each of them boiled everything even on low,not to mention had issues with water dripping onto the countertop from under the lid! The one that seemed to work the best prior to purchasing the Cuisinart was the Corelle 4qt slow cooker, but it did not give me the option of setting the exact time…anything set under 7 hrs automatically cooked on high. I also have the Kitchenaid which is a fantastic slow cooker but is 7qts…now they say you can make smaller recipes with no problems, but nearly all recipes sized for a 3-4 qt slow cooker overcooked when I tried to use it. I probably could have tried adjusting the cooking time or something but just didn’t want to go to the bother. If you’re making a large amount then it’s awesome. It was very expensive also. So as you can see, I have tried a number of them. The Cuisinart is the perfect size for the two of us, with leftovers to boot. I have not had problems with over cooking. I would highly recommend it!

Brilliant quality heavy gauge stainless steel set

I bought this set because I did not know if I wanted a 4 quart or 6 quart pressure cooker, this set solved my problem. When I got this set I was impressed with the quality as it was heavy SS inside and out. My pressure cooker set had only two settings, one for 15 psi and another for 8.5 psi, not three that this listing said. I also ordered the steam basket and trivet ($20), extra gasket ($12), and a SS top ($20) for either base from Magefesausa.com who told me that their pressure cookers only have the two pressure settings and that description of 3 settings was in error.

This pot performs well; as excellent as the T-FAL model I’ve had for nearly 20 yrs. If it lasts as long I won’t feel too terrible about having paid 4x as much.

The only complaint [other than cost!] is the way you have to take the handle off to clean after each use. You’ve got to have quite stong hands to work it.

    Gorgeous and works well

This is a perfect slow cooker. Perfect size when following slow cooker recipes for “medium round.” Very stylish…matches my Cuisinart rice cooker. I like the fact that I can set the timer for whatever time I want. When the time is up, the cooker sets to “keep” mode. Very simple to clean and takes up small space compared to my larger slow cooker. The lid fits perfectly with no escape of liquid.

    boiling, not slow cooking

I was interested in a smaller size slow cooker but I wanted the programming features of the larger cookers. The Cuisinart 650 model has a lot of criticisms and plenty of 1 star ratings, but most of the reviews for both the CSC-400 and PSC-400 were positive. Unfortunately, every negative comment of the larger model is right with the PSC-400 I bought:

-the low temperature setting is too high

-the high setting boils the food

-escaping steam causes the lid to rattle constantly

-condensation runs down the outside of the pot

After researching how a slow cooker is “suppose” to work, I find descriptions such as this: “Slow cookers are designed to emit very small steam, so food braises in its own juices, as well as any cooking liquid.”

The USDA website says: “The direct heat from the pot, lengthy cooking and steam made within the tightly-covered container combine to ruin bacteria and make the slow cooker a safe process for cooking foods.”

The Cuisinart PSC-400 does not slow cook. It boils. It rattles.

Lastly, yes, it looks fantastic, but it is a space hog.

I own several products from WMF. They are all long lasting and perfect quality.

I am just wondering whether anyone can tell me if this piece, Perfect Plus 4.5- Quart could be used on an induction stovetop.

    Thanks!
